Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

Mikey Audio (“we”, “us”) develops audio production software for FL Studio, including FlipCraft and the Maschine FL Studio Integration. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect when you visit mikey.audio or buy our products, how we use it, who we share it with, and the rights you have over it.

This policy applies to mikey.audio and all related services. By using the site you agree to the practices described here.

2. Information We Collect

We collect:

  • Email address — when you buy a product, for license delivery, support, and (with consent) product updates.
  • Purchase information — product purchased, amount, currency, PayPal transaction ID, and the timestamp of your purchase. Your card and bank details never touch our servers; PayPal handles payment.
  • Download activity — IP address, product, and timestamp each time you download a licensed product file, used to detect license abuse.
  • Affiliate referral ID — if you arrived via an affiliate link (a URL containing ?ref=), we store the referrer’s ID for up to 30 days so they receive credit if you purchase. Only stored after you accept marketing cookies.
  • Site usage data — page views and basic performance metrics via Vercel Analytics, only if you accept analytics cookies.
  • Advertising data — if you accept advertising cookies, Google Ads receives data about your visit to measure ad performance (see Section 6).

3. How We Use Your Information

  • Deliver the products you purchase and the license keys that activate them.
  • Provide customer support when you contact us.
  • Send important product updates (security fixes, breaking changes) — these are not marketing and you cannot opt out without giving up the product.
  • Send optional product news and promotional emails to existing customers (you can unsubscribe at any time by replying to any such email).
  • Calculate and pay affiliate commissions.
  • Measure and improve our site and our advertising — only with your consent.
  • Comply with legal obligations (tax records, fraud prevention).

4. Cookies and Tracking

We use a consent banner powered by CookieYes. By default, no analytics or advertising scripts run until you accept them. You can change your choices any time by clicking Cookie Preferences in the site footer.

Categories:

  • Strictly necessary — the consent banner itself stores a small cookie remembering your choice, and we use anonymous first-party site measurement (no persistent cookies, no cross-site tracking, no individual user profiles). Always on.
  • Advertising — Google Ads tag and the affiliate referral cookie. Used to measure ad performance and credit affiliates. Off by default.

We rely on a small number of trusted vendors to operate the site and ship the product:

6. Advertising and Enhanced Conversions

When you accept advertising cookies and complete a purchase, we send Google Ads a record of the conversion (the fact that a purchase happened, the amount, the currency, and a transaction ID). To improve attribution accuracy, we also send your email address to Google Ads in SHA-256 hashed form — a one-way cryptographic transformation that lets Google match the conversion to an ad click without revealing your email in plain text. This is called Google’s Enhanced Conversions feature.

If you do not accept advertising cookies, none of this is sent.

7. International Data Transfers

Our backend, hosting, payment processing, and email infrastructure run primarily on US-based service providers (see Section 5). If you access the site from outside the United States, including from the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, your personal data will be transferred to and processed in the United States. Our vendors rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent safeguards for these transfers.

8. Data Retention

  • Purchase records (email, product, amount, date): retained for 7 years for tax and accounting purposes.
  • Marketing email subscription: retained until you unsubscribe.
  • Download logs (IP, product, timestamp): retained for 90 days, then deleted.
  • Affiliate referral cookie: 30 days from when it’s set on your device.
  • Consent record: 12 months, then we’ll re-prompt.

9. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you have some or all of the following rights:

  • Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correction — ask us to fix data that’s wrong.
  • Deletion — ask us to delete your data, subject to our retention obligations (e.g. tax records).
  • Withdraw consent — change your cookie choices anytime via the footer link, or unsubscribe from marketing email.
  • Object or restrict — object to certain uses of your data.
  • Portability — receive your data in a portable format.
  • Complaint — lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

10. California Residents

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), you have the right to know what personal information we collect, request its deletion, opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of your information, and not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. Sharing your data with Google Ads for cross-context behavioral advertising is treated as “sharing” under CPRA. To opt out, click Cookie Preferences in the footer and decline the Advertising category, or use the Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information link in the cookie banner. We do not sell personal information for money.

11. Children

mikey.audio is not directed to children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will reflect the most recent change. Material changes affecting how we use your data will be communicated by email (where we have your address) or via a banner on the site.
